Jack Johnson

Jack E. Johnson, 84, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Friday, December 6, 2013, at Chapel Pointe Friendship Circle, Carlisle.

He was born on June 26, 1929, in Cumberland County, a son of the late John A. & Beulah Perry Johnson. Jack was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, enlisting on October 29, 1946 and honorably discharged on October 5, 1949. He was awarded the WW II Victory Medal, the Army Occupation Medal, and spent time overseas, serving in Japan.

Jack was employed in Transportation Division at the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring after 41 years of service.

He attended the South Mountain Chapel Brethren in Christ Church, Shippensburg. Was a member of the Big Spring Lodge #361 F. & A.M., Newville, the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg, and a Past Commander of the Hamilton Myers V.F.W. Post #6070, Newville.

Jack is survived by three daughters, Judy Fickel of Carlisle, Darlene Stevenson and husband Gary of Shippensburg, and Penny Howland and Husband Richard of Shippensburg; one sister, Shirley Orndorff of Shippensburg; one brother, Harold Johnson of Newville; eight grandchildren, Scott M. Moose, Justin M. Fickel, Chad W. Stevenson, Eric M. Stevenson, Jamie R. Howland, all of Shippensburg; Todd M. Moose of Loysville; Brian J. Fickel of Valrico, FL; and Jennifer R. Love of Carlisle; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Cover Johnson, who died on June 5, 2007; a daughter, Jacolyn J. Moose, who died on Januray 1, 2009; three brothers, Elwood, Norman, and Boyd Johnson; and four sisters, Dorothy Killinger, Betty Stum, Hulda Stum, and Erma Heller.

His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc, Shippensburg. The Rev. David A. Erisman will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will follow in the Cleversburg Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service to take place at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
