Jack Frey

December 8, 1935 — October 29, 2020

Jack Earl Frey, 84, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Thursday, October 29, 2020 at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born in Chambersburg, on December 8, 1935, a son of the late Earl F. and Lulu M. (Eyer) Frey and was a 1954 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School. Jack married Gail Cressler on May 19, 1956 in the Orrstown United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2016.

Jack worked as a truck driver, hauling grain and feed for local area farmers, through the C.V. Co-Op for over forty years, retiring in 1998. Aside from work, Jack was known to be very handy, a “Jack of all trades”, and could do just about anything, including teaching himself to paint cars.

He was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, a long-time member of the Shippensburg Town Band (playing the French horn), and a life member of the NRA. Jack liked to watch college football, especially Penn State. His favorite thing to do was go hunting, anywhere really, but mostly to his cabin in Clinton County, where he spent lots of time just being outdoors and taking rides in the mountain. Jack also enjoyed spending time with his large family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by five sons, Cheyenne Frey and wife Connie, Shawn Frey and wife Julie, Kurt Frey and wife Dorothy, Luther Frey and wife Christine, all of Shippensburg, and Brett Frey and wife Alison of Conifer, CO; one daughter, Jill Heberlig and husband Ashley of Shippensburg; seventeen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two more on the way; one brother, Jesse Frey and wife Bonnie of Shippensburg; one sister, Julie Bullock and husband Darrell of Telford, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Newburg First Church of God. Pastor Jim Bolich will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the church.
