J. Evelyn Divelbiss, 92, formerly of Shippensburg, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Philadelphia.
Born June 8, 1919 in Southampton Twp., Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Margaret Smith Highlands.
Evelyn was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts. She worked for the former L’agilon and Shirt Craft Companies in Shippensburg.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Divelbiss, an infant son, Elwood Divelbiss. Two sisters, and one brother are also deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley K. Wimmer and her husband Erwin Lewis of Philadelphia, three grandchildren, C. Benjamin Wimmer and his partner Paige Lindsay and son Blake Lindsay all of Harrisburg, S. Matthew Wimmer of Harrisburg and Mary Elizabeth Wimmer of Philadelphia, one brother, Dale Highlands, and a sister, Betty Davidson both of Shippensburg.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Owen J. Griffiths of Faith Lutheran Church in Philadelphia. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Ft. Loudon. A viewing will be held Thursday one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
