Isabelle Reed

September 13, 1933 — September 25, 2022

Isabelle Frances Reed, 89, of Orrstown, departed this life on the evening of Sunday, September 25, 2022, at her daughter’s home.

She was born on September 13, 1933, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Sam and Isabel (Mixell) Carbaugh. Isabelle married Myrl C. Reed in November 10, 1954. He preceded her in death in March of 2005.

In her younger years, Isabelle worked at the former G.C. Murphy Co., Johnnies Restaurant and Motel, and the former Letterkenny Elementary School. She spent the majority of her working life employed at Bender Potato’s for twenty-one years, retiring in 1998. After retiring, Isabelle became a devoted and faithful full time caregiver for her husband Myrl for many years until his passing.

Isabelle was a longtime and very active member of the Lurgan United Brethren Church. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, sang in the choir, and planned and organized many social events and meals. At home Isabelle enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking, and for a period of time, she used her baking skills to bake cakes for every occasion.

She is survived by her children, Michael H. Reed and wife Diane of Orrstown, Jeffrey L. Reed and wife Janice of Newburg, and Denise J. Smith of Orrstown; eight grandchildren, Scott Reed, Michael Reed, Christina Eskridge, Matthew Reed, Nicole Nicholson, Benjamin Reed, Jonathan Smith, and Anthony Smith; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Isabelle was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service at this time. However, a celebration of life service is being planned to be held at a future date and time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice.
