Homer N. Kissick, age 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018, at his daughter’s residence in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, after a brave battle with cancer.
Born October 7, 1933, in Hillsboro, he was a son of the late Henry Newton and Nannie Ezetta Spence Kissick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Kissick and John Wesley Kissick and two sisters, Lou Spurlock and Emma Pearl Kissick DeBord Burke.
Barbara Diane Pitzer Kissick, his wife of 59 years, whom he married December 20, 1953, passed away October 17, 2012.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Marie Goodhart of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and Susan Anette Kovach of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; one son, Rick Lee Kissick of Selma, Indiana; one brother, Ronald Kissick of Muncie, Indiana; one sister, Zona Shelley of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Homer was a carpenter and a member of the Morehead Apostolic Church. He enjoyed reading his Bible, wood working, gardening, telling stories, and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Brother Charlie Scully officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Kissick, Herman Shelley, Nick Shelley, Gary Spurlock, Gail Burk, Nelson Crout, David Payne, John DeBord, and Mick Kissick.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
