Hilda E. “Boots” Norton, 95, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, formerly of Upper Strasburg, departed this life on the evening of Friday, April 22, 2016.
She was born in Baltimore County, MD, a daughter of the late William and Marietta Wright Snyder. Hilda married Norman R. Norton on September 3, 1938, in Baltimore. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1998.
Hilda was a homemaker throughout her life. At her home, she enjoyed watching the wildlife, especially birds, and enjoyed working in her flower beds. It was well known that if you’d stop by her house, you could expect to be offered something to eat and a cup of extremely strong coffee. No one could ever say that they left Hilda’s house hungry.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert G. (Carol) Norton and Daniel N. (Brenda) Norton both of Upper Strasburg; three grandchildren, Lisa Stewart, Lance Norton, and Bart Norton; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hilda was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Ron Cook will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
