Henry Lester Friese, Sr., 82, a resident of the Orrstown Personal Care Home, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 with his family by his side.
He was born Friday, May 12, 1933 in Letterkenny Twp., Franklin County. Henry was the son of the late Paul L. and Mary E. Forrester Friese.
He owned and operated a dairy farm in the Shippensburg area with his wife, Yvonne Farner Friese who died January 17, 2013. Years ago he worked for the Maintenance Department at Shippensburg University. Henry was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, enjoyed watching Major League Baseball, and liked to hunt and fish. Earlier in his life he played baseball for the Oakville Adult Men’s baseball team.
Henry is survived by four children, Diane I. (Bobby) Boyd of Lurgan, Kimberly A. (companion, Bob Werner) Roden of Williamsburg, MI, Pamela S. (Bill) Herb of Shippensburg, and Henry L. “Hank” (fiancée Heather Bowermaster) Friese, Jr. of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Boyd of Lurgan, Brandon (Lydia) Boyd of Chambersburg, Austin Roden of Baltimore, MD, Devon Roden of Grand Rapids, MI, Derek, Dylan, and Brock Herb of Shippensburg, Shane Friese of Newburg, and Kera Heckman of Shippensburg; five great grandchildren, Brayden, Kenzie, and Alexis Boyd of Lurgan, and Brooke and Zachery Boyd of Chambersburg; one sister, Betty Kelso of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Richard E. Mose and The Rev. Rocky W. Spear. Burial will be held in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
