Helen Sleighter

December 8, 1935 — October 10, 2021

Helen L. Sleighter, 86, of Shippensburg, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Sunday, December 8, 1935 in Mechanicsburg, she was a daughter of the late Hillard D. and Mildred Blosser Sarver, Sr.

Helen attended the Mt. Rock Brethren in Christ Church, Shippensburg. She retired from the former Hoffman Mills in Shippensburg, where she worked as an inspector.

She is survived by one sister, Maurita Thomas, Shippensburg; sister in-law Pauline Armstrong; three nephews, Jerry L. Pringle, Jr., Bobby and Gary Thomas; one niece, Charlene Sleighter Verdier and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garth R. “Slick” Sleighter who passed away March 11, 2009; one daughter, Linda Bowers; one sister, Kathryn Saylor; and one brother, Hillard D. Sarver, Jr.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Faithful at Home, Home Care nurses, Ruth Miller and Katrina Smith for their outstanding love and care they gave to Helen.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating.
