Helen Mae Hutchison, 94, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Monday, November 6, 2023, at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg.
She was born on December 26, 1928, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Mary N. (Railing) Shearer.
Helen worked as an L.P.N., at the South Mountain Restoration Center, Fayetteville, from where she retired. She also had a part-time wallpaper hanging business for a period of time.
She was a longtime member of the Newburg First Church of God and enjoyed spending time and volunteering at the Branch Creek Place, Shippensburg. Throughout her life Helen enjoyed family gatherings, quilting, bowling, and playing card games, especially pinochle.
She is survived by four sons, Stephen L. Wiser and wife Kim of Newville, Calvin E. Wiser and wife Judy of Newville, Conrad A. Wiser and wife Susan of Colorado, and Daniel “Curt” Wiser and wife Diane of Newville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wiser of Shippensburg; a step-daughter, Ruth Ann Henry and husband Richard of Newburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl A. Wiser, Jr.; her second husband, Erwin Hutchison; one son, Douglas E. Wiser; a step-son, Ronald W. Hutchison; and several siblings.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Chaplain Megan Gustafson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.
