Helen L. Cressler, 95, residing at the Cottages of Luther Ridge, Chambersburg, died on the morning of December 3, 2012, at her home.
She was born on March 4, 1917, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Clyde A. and Agnes C. Shoffner Laughlin. Helen was a 1935 graduate of Shippensburg High School.
Helen was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg Historical Society, Shippensburg and Newport Civic Club, and the Fort Morris A.A.R.P. #2525, Shippensburg.
She is survived by four sons, Walter L. (Anita) Cressler, Jr. of Palmyra, Clyde L. (Carol) Cressler of Mechanicsburg, Alfred B. Cressler of Chambersburg, and William J. (Roxy) Cressler of Dillsburg; one daughter, Christina C. (Zeke) Morrow of Germany; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Cressler, who died in 1965, and six sisters.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Her granddaughter, T.C. Morrow and the Rev. Herb Spomer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Thursday, at the funeral home.
