Heather Bigler Swartz, 52, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born August 19, 1969 in Farmington, Michigan. Heather was a daughter of Roberta K. (Ewan) Cohick and step-mother, Myrtice (Moffat) Bigler and the late Robert Arthur Bigler.
Heather was Marketing Director for the Partnership for Better Health in Carlisle. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school to their adult Step by Step Sunday school class. Heather was a board member of the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation and Co-Founder of the Shippensburg Turkey Trot which raised over $100,000 for local families. She was active with the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce and the Corn Festival. Heather was an avid runner, enjoying all the training it took to run marathons and spending that time with friends. Heather was a 1987 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Shippensburg University in 1992. She was an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Saul S. Cohick.
Heather is survived by her husband, Keith A. Swartz; three sons, Bennett K. Swartz, Brandt R. Swartz and Jackson P. Swartz and his fiancé, Elizabeth “Libby” Bouder; one sister, Carmen (Robert) Zimbicki; one brother, Robert “Trent” (Tiffani) Bigler; five step-siblings, Heather Jo (Jake) Shoemaker, Steve (Joni) Cohick, Shawn “Suzi” (Ted) Frengel, Shane (JoAnn) Cohick, and Shelli (Kent) Cohick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Messiah United Methodist Church, 30 S. Penn St., Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Bob Vizthum. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held Friday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
