Hazel Hudson

March 3, 1925 — January 18, 2015

Hazel Jane “Nanny” (McConaughey) Hudson, 89, of Shippensburg, went home to be with the Lord, January 18, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born Tuesday, March 3, 1925 in Saltillo, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Andrew and Rachel Leona (Hampton) McConaughley.

She worked for Derose Homes, U Wanna Wash and Penn and Pants Clothing Companies. Nanny volunteered at the King’s Kettle for many years. Her many hobbies included traveling, sewing, making crafts and country music. She also adopted many children in her heart.

She is survived by three daughters, Gail Waring and husband, Lynn of Phoenix, AZ., Billie Marie Simmons and husband, Bernard of Wellsboro, and Wanda Roberts and husband Jesse of Fayetteville, two sons, Dennis Hudson and wife Joyce, and Robert Hudson and wife Michelle all of Shippensburg, one foster son, Randy Bowers, Sr. of Chambersburg, 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. “Rebel” Hudson who died, September 9, 2009, three siblings, a daughter, Carla Witter, and a great grandson, Kenneth Hudson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in The Church of God at Shippensburg, 477 South Fayette Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257 with the Rev. Dennis Hudson, Rev. Doyle Rogers, Rev. J.R. Wells, Rev. Robert Hudson and Mrs. Wanda Roberts officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the King’s Kettle, 30 North Fayette Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
