Harry Ray Watson, 86, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Mercy House of Chambersburg.
Born Sunday, May 30, 1937 in Shippensburg, PA, he was a son of the late Roy A. and Virginia C. Mundorff Watson.
Ray retired from the United States Air Force as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic with 20 years of service. He served during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, Ray then worked as a Supply Specialist at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, retiring after 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg, PA. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling, and simply being outdoors.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Bolin, Phoenix, AZ; and Jane (husband Gary) Olson, Peoria, AZ; one brother, Jack Watson, Shippensburg, and his daughter, Melissa (Mike) Hayes; three sisters, Jeannette Gordon, Newville, Nancy Heddy, Mechanicsburg, and June Allison, Newville; six grandchildren, Brandi, Amber, Matthew, Melissa, Abbie, and Sydney; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Case, Brody, Maxx, Bradley, and Liam; one son-in-law, Tom Bolin, Glendale, AZ; and one daughter- in-law, Heidi Watson, Orrstown, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy A. Burns Watson, who passed away February 9, 2022; one son, Daniel B. “Danny” Watson, who died June 22, 2011; one sister, Regina Watson; and one brother, Roy Watson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
