Harold N. Swanger, 89, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation & Wellness Center.
He was born on February 26, 1933 in Shippensburg, a son of the late John A. and Celia A. (Nye) Swanger.
Harold worked as a computer system analyst at Letterkenny Army Depot for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church and was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Harold enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, and tending to his yard and property. He was also an excellent artist and singer as a member of the Carlindian Barbershop Chorus in Carlisle for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne (Ruth) Swanger; three children, Wade (Donna) Swanger, Lauren (William) Kennedy, and Greta (Bobby) Mozingo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David (Olivia) Swanger and Glenn (Dorothy) Swanger; several half-brothers and half-sisters; one grandson, Brandon Seeders; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Minutemen of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
