Harold T. Starliper, Jr., 72, of Lurgan, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, December 31, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 22, 1943, in Martinsburg, WV, a son of the late Harold T. and Helen Warren Starliper, Sr. and step-mother Alice Starliper. He married Elmira J. Carroll on August 10, 1963 at the Lurgan United Brethren Church.
He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot, where he worked at the post restaurant, after thirty five years of employment. He also worked at the former Cressler Trucking in maintenance and as a mechanic for thirteen years after retiring.
He was a member of the Orrstown United Brethren Church, a member of the Big Spring Fish and Game, and a life member of the L.S.L. Club. In his free time, Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to auto races, and collecting NASCAR memorabilia, especially that of the late Dale Earnhardt.
Harold is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Elmira; four children, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Traini of Shippensburg, Brian (companion, Connie Hoover) Starliper of Chambersburg, Timothy (fiance’ Melissa Kuhns) Starliper of Chambersburg, and Lisa (William) Ott of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren; Laci and Danielle Hockenberry, Gabrielle Warren, Madison Ott, Anneka Wilt, Skylar Starliper, and Lane, Tegan, and Carson Kuhns; one great grandson Landan; five siblings, Sandra Starr, Constance (Robert) Shoemaker, Jackson and Dennis (Donna) Starliper, and Cheryl (Jeffrey) Neil; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Starliper; a sister in infancy, Bonnie Starliper; two granddaughters in infancy, Kaylee and Olivia Starliper; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Starliper.
Harold’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to be applied toward final expenses.
