Harold J. “Ding” Clendening, 77, of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home.
Born February 28, 1939 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late James E. and Emma Jane Warren Clendening.
Ding was a 1957 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a United States Army Veteran. Ding retired in 1994 from the Beistle Company where he worked as a printer with 38 years of service. Ding was a member of the Shippensburg Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and caring for his property, and was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Nancy L. Gilbert Clendening whom he married June 27, 1970, one daughter, Michelle R. (husband Kenneth) Culbertson, Newburg, three grandchildren, Ryan H. Angle, Shippensburg, Alexandra L. Culbertson, Chambersburg, and Ethan J. Culbertson, Newburg, one great grandson, Conner G. Culbertson, Newburg, three sisters; Doris Cline, Roxanna Shaffer, both of Shippensburg, and Donna Nailor, Newville, one brother, Frank Martin, Newburg, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Martin.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. David S. Halteman officiating. Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council immediately following the service. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
