H. Earl Sheaffer, 71, of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Shippensburg, died on October 1, 2011 at Hope Hospice House.
Born on April 8, 1940, in Shippensburg, the son of the late Chester and Ruth Sleighter Sheaffer.
On January 18, 1958, Earl married Ms. Doris J. Weaver in the Orrstown United Brethren Church, Orrstown, PA.
Earl was employed at Roadway Express, Hagerstown, MD, where he worked as a Freight Driver, retiring after thirty years of employment.
He was a member of the Vigilant Hose Company #1, Shippensburg, and a member of the Teamsters Union. His favorite pastime was watching baseball. He enjoyed the Little League World Series and he also worked for ten years at the Boston Red Sox spring training camp in Ft. Myers.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris of Ft. Myers; two sons, William B. (Wanda) Sheaffer of Orrstown and Raymond D. (Tonya) Sheaffer of Shippensburg; one daughter, Barbara A. (Michael) Stitt of FLW, MO; three sisters, Dorothy Rhone of Ft. Myers, Loretta Hall of Shippensburg, and Anna Chamberlin of Shippensburg; twelve grandchildren; three great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Edward F. Sheaffer.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 22, 2011, in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. There will be no viewing or visitation. Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his local funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Development Office Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Circle Fort Myers, FL 33908.
