Gregory Allen Adams, 67 of Shippensburg, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on August 6, 1948 in Mainsville and was the son of Mrs. Pauline V. Hamilton and grandson of the late Adaline & Edward Adams of Mainsville.
Gregory was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting on September 21, 1967 and honorably discharged, along with receiving three purple hearts while stationed in Cuchi, Republic of Vietnam. He had served in Troop C, 3rd Squad 4th CAV of the 25th Infantry Division. He had worked for the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (Ships, Parts Control Center) of Mechanicsburg, PA for over 28 years and retired in 2011.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria D. Adams for 29 years. They were married on December 6, 1986 at the United Brethren Church in Mainsville. Along with loving his wife, he loved hunting, gardening and watching football.
Gregory was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Durff-Kuhn Post 6168, Shippensburg, a Post Member of the American Legion Post 46 of Chambersburg, a member of the Minnequa Social Club Shippensburg, and a member of the Hub City Club of Shippensburg.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline Hamilton of Shippensburg; his three children, Wanda (Michael) Hepler of Molalla, OR; Crystal (James) Arter of Orrtanna, PA and Gary W. McCoy of Pueblo, CO; five siblings, Linda Bechtle of Shippensburg; Lana Hamilton of Mainsville; Brenda (Ray) Cressler of Shippensburg; Raymond “Rodger” (Patricia) Adams of Shippensburg, PA and Wayne Edward “Robin” Hamilton of Shippensburg. He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Gregory was preceded in death by two children, Michelle Renae Adams and Gregory Allen Adams II.
His funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment with military honors, conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
