Grace E. Shannon, 82, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, died on the afternoon of Monday, June 1, 2015.
She was born in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late John and Vergie Russell Lynch. In 1948, Grace married John J. Shannon. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1993.
Grace worked as a Presser at the former Greif Clothing Co., retiring after 30 years of employment. She was also a life member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary, Shippensburg.
She is survived by two sons, John E. (Joyce) Shannon of Shippensburg and Tracy L. (Terena) Shannon of Carlisle; one daughter, Sandy (Tom) Polis of Ft. Myers, FL; seven grandchildren, Bobby (Melissa) Shannon of Shippensburg, John (Yvonne) Shannon of Newburg, Ryan Noll of Chambersburg, Jeff Noll of Upper Strasburg, Tyler Shannon of Boiling Springs, Terry ‘Whopper” Shannon of Chambersburg, and Stacey Shannon of Shippensburg; nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Peggy Wilson, Martha Kelly, Blanche Rhone, and Clair Johnson; two brothers, John and Charles Lynch; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by one son, Terry Lee “P.I.” Shannon, who died on March 3, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. David Erisman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
