Grace M. Hornbaker, 75, of Shippensburg, died on Saturday, June 11, 2011.
Born on November 7, 1935, in Hamilton Twp., Franklin County, a daughter of the late Walter R. and Grace Rife Dice. A 1953 graduate of Chambersburg High School, she married Mr. Paul E. Hornbaker on March 9, 1957, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Chambersburg. Grace was a homemaker throughout her life, while helping her husband with work on the farm.
She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg. A former member of the Cumberland County Farm Women Group Ten, she served as co-chairman of the Home Product Buildings at the Shippensburg Fair, served on the Election Board for Shippensburg Township, Cumberland County, and served on the Cumberland County Agricultural Extension Board.
Grace is survived by her husband, Paul; their two children, Gary (Joyce Poe) Hornbaker of Shippensburg and Karen (Timothy) Hornbaker Royer of Mohnton, PA; six grandchildren, Michael Hornbaker, Jeanette Hornbaker Roberts, Beth Hornbaker, Denae Hornbaker, Christopher Royer, and Jeremy Royer; one sister, Laura Dice Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Grace and Paul served as foster parents to children from the Franklin County Aid Society.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Abram and Ralph Dice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg. The Rev. George W. Heckard will officiate. Private interment will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Public visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the memorial service at church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ at 121 East Orange Street Shippensburg, PA 17257.
