Grace Foust

Grace M. Foust, 97, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Menno Haven – Chambers Pointe.

She was born on January 15, 1927, in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, a daughter of the late Samuel C. and Rena Mae (Russell) Jones. Grace married Ira F. Foust, Jr., on June 14, 1946, in Chambersburg. He preceded her in death just two months ago, on January 10, 2024.

Grace worked as a clerk at the former Gordon’s Department Store and also worked at the former Shirtcraft Co. She was a longtime member of the King Street United Brethren Church, its Buds of Promise Sunday School Class, and once was a member of the choir. Grace and Ira enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida to visit the orange groves and also to Gatlinburg, TN. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, growing African violets, and was known for making the best fried chicken ever.

She is survived by a son, Richard E. Foust and wife Carolyn of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, James Foust of Asheville NC, Joseph Foust of Mechanicsburg, Tabitha Foust of Gloucester, VA, Nichole Short of Shippensburg, and Stephanie Foust of Shippensburg; twelve great grandchildren; her half-brother, Samuel J. Jones of Grantville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by a son, Randy G. Foust, Sr., and her sister, Margaret Burkholder.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastors Ron Cook and Steve Trostle will officiate, along with her grandsons, James and Joseph Foust. Grace will be laid to rest in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
