Goldie E. Martin, 79, of Fireside Drive, Shippensburg, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA
Born September 25, 1936 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Scott Sly and Cleta Irene Fenton Zimmerman.
Goldie was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg. She retired from the Shippensburg Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria with 25 years of service. Goldie was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 2500 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Vigilant Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons; Gregory S. Martin, of Shippensburg, and Alvin L. Martin, Jr., of Wilmington, NC, two daughters; Kimberly R. (Alan) Shope, of Shippensburg, and Kandace K. (Steven) Nealy, of Newville, two sisters, E. Marie Helman, and Mary L. Bard, one brother, Gary Lee Fenton, all of Shippensburg, two grandsons; Matthew Tylor Nealy, of Newville, and Hayden Stone Martin, of Wilmington, NC, one great grandson, McKane Coldsmith, and four great granddaughters; Braelyn Henry, Miliani Sky Foschia, Annilyn Valaderamma, and Olivia M. Nealy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin L. “Ike” Martin, Sr., who died October 11, 2001, two brothers; Scott and Robert Zimmerman, and four grandchildren; Jason Nealy, Travis Henry, Tylor Henry, and Ruschelle Henry.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Prince Street United Brethren Church, with Rev. James O. Bolich officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will immediately follow during a time of fellowship in the Church Fellowship Hall.
