Glenn Rex Stewart, 78, of Shippensburg, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his son’s home.
Born September 30, 1933 in Amberson, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Hulda June Piper Stewart.
He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg. Glenn was an Operations Systems Analyst at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1996. He also retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard. Glenn was a member of the Greene Township Lions Club, NARFE Chapter # 1063, Falling Spring AARP # 2840, Chambersburg, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion # 223, Shippensburg, Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club, and both the Shippensburg and Kittochtinny Historical Societies. He was a 1951 graduate of the former Fannett Twp. High School in Dry Run and a 1960 graduate of Shippensburg University.
Glenn was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys L. Stewart Stewart who died January 25, 2002, and his second wife, Sara A. Piper Burgoyne Stewart who died June 28, 2011.
Glenn is survived by one son, William A. Stewart and his wife Nikki of Fayetteville, one daughter, Glenda L. Stewart and her husband Mark Keller of York, two brothers, Fred R. Stewart and his wife Donna of Richboro, and Galen P. Stewart and his wife Diana of Round Rock, TX, one grandson, Zachary W. Stewart of Telford, one step-son, Timothy Burgoyne and his wife Amy of Carrollton, TX, three step-daughters, Judy George and her husband Joseph and, Diana Gabri and her husband Richard all of Massena, NY, and Michele Bronchetti and her husband Thomas of Webster, NY, six step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg with the Rev. Kevin E. Hughes and The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion and VFW Posts will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Friday morning one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
