Glenn Butts

Glenn E. Butts, 89, a resident of the Orrstown Personal Care Home, formerly of West Creek Road, Newburg, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the Emergency Room of the Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 29, 1923 in Newburg, PA. Glenn was a son of the late William C. and Jennie S. Rebuck Butts.

Glenn was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1997. He was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church, PA Game Commission, Young Farmers Association, and a life member of the Newburg Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed woodworking, and most of all his family and neighbors.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy W. Davidson Butts, one son, Larry J. Butts and his wife Gladys of Shippensburg, two daughters, Jenny L. Thomas and her husband Robert of Shippensburg, and Judy A. Heberlig and her husband Nelson of Newburg, seven grandchildren, Lanette Hutchison, Randy Butts, Megan Heberlig, Kristin Gardner, and Ryan, Bethany, and Lauren Thomas, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, one brother, Roy Z. Butts of Shippensburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and father, Glenn was preceded in death by three brothers, John, George, and Harry Butts and four sisters, Hazel Jumper, Mary Smith, Mildred Shoemaker, and Anna Stockslager.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 in the Newburg United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with The Rev. John A. Ile, Jr. and The Rev. Peggy H. Spengler officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in church Monday morning.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newburg Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company, 121 Lovers Lane, Newburg, PA 17240.
