Gladys R. Naugle, 96, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her residence.
She was born on August 20, 1919, in Newville, a daughter of the late John F. and Carrie J. Burkholder Clark.
Gladys was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a long-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom. In her younger years, Gladys liked to knit, crochet, and read. In her later years, as a resident of the Episcopal Square, she had many friends and enjoyed being social.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jessie J. (Nick) Gribble of Fayetteville and Linda K. Reed of Newburg; four grandchildren, John (Faith) Gribble of Culpepper, VA, Jeff Gribble of Cairns, Australia, Jennifer (Roy) Dixon of Indian Head, MD, and Jane (Adam) Fisher of Ellicot City, MD; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two step-daughters; three step-sons; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband, John L. Reed, who died on September 2, 1965; her second husband, Maynard R. ‘Jack” Naugle, who died on August 7, 1991; three sisters; and two brothers.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Harold A. Bolyard will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
