Gladys Hershey

Gladys M. Hershey, 76, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, died on the afternoon of Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Health Care Center.

She was born on November 28, 1936, in Newburg, a daughter of the late George and Ruth Rhoads Yohe.

Gladys was employed by the former Hoffman Mills Co., as a Machine Operator, retiring in 1998 and she was always a homemaker, a mother with a big heart to her large family.

She loved to read, solve word search puzzles, and do latch hook. Her favorite program was Dancing With The Stars, which she never missed. Most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy. They were her life.

Gladys is survived by four sons, Rodney L. Hershey and his friend/daughter, Ashley Wileman of Shippensburg, Roy E. (Brenda) Hershey of Shippensburg, Jacob W. (Effie) Hershey of Newburg, and Roy E. (Sherri) Hershey, Jr. of Newville; five daughters, Darlene M. Bigler and companion Michael Weaver, of Shippensburg, Gayle E. (Joseph) Hartman of Shippensburg, Wanda L. Gehrett and companion Darwin Goshorn of Shippensburg, Brenda S. (Duane) Schwerin of Shippensburg, and Sondra L. (Mark Hess) Hershey of Carlisle; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Louise Gibson of Ft. Loudon, Roberta Martin of South Mountain, and Betty Verdier of Chambersburg; brothers, Bentley Yohe of South Carolina, Galen Yohe of St. Thomas, and Richard Yohe of Duncannon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Hershey, Sr., who died on December 22, 1991; two daughters, Arlene F. Hershey and Ann M. Hershey; son, David W. Hershey, Jr.; and two brothers.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Doyle B. Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
