Gertrude E. Staver, 88, of Shippensburg, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1926 in Chambersburg, Franklin County. Gertrude was a daughter of the late Harvey and Rose Umbrell Laidig.
She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Gertrude was a member of the Cumberland County Farm Women Group # 10, the Ft. Morris Chapter AARP, and the Shippensburg Senior Citizens Group # 1. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School and a volunteer at the Shippensburg Fair, where she was Co-Chairman of the Farm and Home Department for a number of years.
In addition to her parents Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, F. Arthur Staver who died November 16, 1994 and a brother, Donald Laidig.
She is survived by four children, Harvey A. Staver of Fayetteville, Richard S. (wife Libby) Staver, Ray F. Staver, and Lois J. (husband Galen) Beidel all of Shippensburg, eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and two sisters, Helen Minor of Shippensburg, and Jean (husband Vanel) Perry of Morristown, NJ.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. James O. Bolich. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
