Gertrude Johnson

Gertrude A. “Trudy” Johnson, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at The Shook Home in Chambersburg.

Born Friday, July 12, 1935 in Erie, PA, she was a daughter of the late Albert Scott and Gertrude Hattie Bemis.
Trudy was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan I. (Pete) Clanton, The Villages, FL., and Mary E. (Lonnie) Cooper, Shippensburg; one son, James T. (Maria) Johnson, Rosedale, MD; three grandchildren, Michael Akey, Steven Johnson, and Sara Valentine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Johnson, who passed away December 23, 2017; and one sister, Sara Bemis.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg, with Father Benjamin Dunkelberger as Celebrant. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
