Gerda A. (Pinske) Gleim, 95, of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
Born December 11, 1923, in Werben-am-Medusee, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Willi and Martha (nee Zitske) Pinske.
Gerda married her husband, Alfred Gleim, in 1957 and was married 50 years before his passing in 2007. Although she never had children of her own, Gerda doted on all her nieces, nephew, and great-nieces and nephews.
She worked for many years in school cafeterias in Abilene, Texas, and Winchester, Virginia. Gerda came to the United States over 60 years ago, but never forgot her roots. She loved writing letters and talking to her relatives back in Germany. Gerda also loved working in her garden.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen McBride of Shippensburg; nieces Monika Kubusch of Germany, Doris Jackson of Shippensburg, Lisa Kitner of Newburg, and Annette Ocker of Newburg; and many great- and even great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Frieda, her brother Walter, and her husband Alfred.
Graveside services in the Spring Hill Cemetery will be private.
