Gerald Gayman

Gerald W. Gayman, 89 of Shippensburg, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 13, 1921 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Faust Gayman.
Gerald was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Upon returning home from the war he worked as a milk tester for a period of time and also was employed at the Letterkenny Army Depot. He then began a career as a self employed dairy farmer.
Gerald was a past member of the Young Adult Farmer’s Association and the Farm Bureau Association. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orrstown and past treasurer of the Sunday school, and member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg. He was a graduate of the Shippensburg High School and enjoyed square dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Blattenberger Gayman, one son, Richard W. Gayman and his wife Jane of Dillsburg, one daughter, Sharon A. Poe and her husband Ray of Shippensburg, one brother, Arthur Gayman of Shippensburg, two sisters; Pauline Smith of Shippensburg and Louise Creager of McConnellsburg, four grandchildren; Rev. Michael Poe of Palmas, Brazil, Cindy Poe of Shippensburg, Brian Gayman of Dover, and Lisa Gayman of Dillsburg, three great granddaughters; Hannah Poe, Alice-Lyn Gayman, and Gabriella Reyes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Kathleen G. Coleman. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The viewings will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services in church Tuesday morning.
