George P. West, Jr., 64, of Orrstown, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on October 3, 1953, in Chambersburg, the son of the late George P. and Shirley Jean Lehman West, Sr. George was a U.S. Army veteran, inducted on November 12, 1970 and honorably discharged on December 14, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; his beloved dog, Bear; two step-daughters, Crystal Wenger and Shantell Corbett both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Jennie L. (Daniel) Cordell of Shippensburg and Laura A. (Jeremy) Ott of Chambersburg; nephew, Robert “Bob” (Valerie) West of Roxbury; nieces, Rebecca West of Mont Alto and Brittany Sherman of Shippensburg; nephews, Ethan, Jacob, and Carter Ott of Chambersburg; great nieces, Jaycie Sims, Katelynn West; great nephew, Johnathon West; and many friends.
George worked in the paving industry as a dump truck driver. He loved to hunt and fish and was always known for being very particular about the condition and cleanliness of his vehicles.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Roger Knoll will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
