George J. Shrawder, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born October 14, 1928 in Newburg, PA. George was a son of the late Elizabeth E. “Bessie” Reed Shrawder.
He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, Shippensburg for over 50 years. George retired in July of 1985 from the Letterkenny Army Depot where he was employed for over 32 years. He was also a farmer. George loved music, especially gospel and blue grass. He played many instruments and accompanied his daughter, Pamela while she played the piano. Since 1985 George hauled the local Amish.
George is survived by his wife Leora G. Hockenberry Shrawder, one daughter, Pamela J. (Stephen) Cramer of Shippensburg, one son, Roy L. Shrawder of Newburg, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Forsythe and their children, Jaelyn and Talon of Chambersburg, Stephanie (Ryan) Davenport and their daughter, London of Chambersburg, Lindsey (Daniel) Gunnell of McConnellsburg, Natalie (Charles, III) Snyder and their children, Charles, IV and Clayton of Shippensburg, Joni Shrawder and her son Derek Walter Metheny of Shippensburg, Jessi Shrawder and Travis Shrawder of Newburg.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy L. Shrawder.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. John E. Inglin. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
