George Edward Middlekauff, 81, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Wednesday, December 31, 1941 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Frank and Grace M. Cook Middlekauff.
George was a 1959 graduate of the Big Spring High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force. George retired after 43 years from the Public Opinion Newspaper where he worked as a Computer Trouble Shooter.
His favorite hobbies were watching birds, flowers, reading books, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane L. Unger Middlekauff whom he married December 16, 1967; one son, Brian Andrew Middlekauff; one grandson, Zane A. Middlekauff, all of Shippensburg; two granddaughters, Zoe Inez and Sophia Roan Middlekauff both of Chambersburg; one great-granddaughter, Esme Irelia Krieger, Chambersburg; one brother, Guy Cooper, Mt Holly Springs; one sister, Barbara Bick, Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Richard Middlekauff; and three sisters, Julia Reath, Annie Helm, and Esther Middlekauff.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
