George F. Durf, Sr., 86, of Orrstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Wednesday, September 23, 1931 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Harry Albert and Catherine Elizabeth Sites Durf.
George was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom. He retired in 1994 after 38 years of service from the Valley Quarries, Shippensburg, where he worked as a mechanic.
George was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 1299, Carlisle. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bowler. He loved and cherished his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, George F. (wife Freda) Durf, Jr., Shippensburg, and Ken D. (wife Michele) Durf, Biglerville; one daughter, Betty Jean (husband Roy) Carbaugh, Newville; four brothers, Donald Durf, Newville, Carl Durf, Sr., Shippensburg, Ellis Durf, Mowersville, and Bruce Durf, Newville; one sister, Darlene Barrick, Huntsdale; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Piper Durf who passed away July 2, 2017, and one brother, Paul Durf.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Harold A. Bolyard, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service one Wednesday in the funeral home.
