George M. Diehl, Jr., 84 of Orrstown, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Thursday, February 6, 1930 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late George M. and Hazel Ruth Myers Diehl, Sr.
George retired from the H.J. Heinz Company, Chambersburg after 30 years of service and later retired from The Beistle Company, Shippensburg after 10 years of service.
He was a member of the Orrstown United Brethren Church, a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald D. Diehl and wife Elizabeth of Carlisle, Garry S. Diehl of Shippensburg, one daughter, Donna R. Appleby and husband Jeffrey of Orrstown, two grandsons, Jeremy and Corey Diehl, two granddaughters, Stephanie Nace and Timothea Moose, four great grandsons, Jackson and Trevor Diehl, Jordan Nace and Wyatt Moose, two great granddaughters, Tymberlyn and Taylor Diehl and three sisters, Dorothy Zullinger of Chambersburg, Gladys Horst and Esther Pugh both of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Ruth Strayer Diehl who died January 12, 1990, a son, Robert A. Diehl who died November 18, 2005, one sister, Grace Mackey and one brother, Harold Diehl.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Kenneth E. Williamson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
