Genevieve L. Porter, 95, resident of Menno Haven Chambers Pointe, passed away the morning of Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born Monday, December 29, 1924 in Upper Mifflin, a daughter of the late Carl R. and Pauline F. Gamber Swartz.
Genevieve worked at several places throughout her life including Marden Clothing Company, Shippensburg State College in the bookstore, and Porter’s Carpet & Furniture. She loved traveling, especially to Ireland. She was also a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia Corwell of Roxbury; one brother, Ray (Mary) Swartz of Newburg; two brothers-in-law, Jack Porter and Gary (Helen) Porter; a daughter-in-law, Karen Porter; close friend, Kathy Bishop; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Galen L. Porter, whom passed away on August, 6, 1993; son, George C. Porter, whom passed away on January 28, 2018; and four brothers and two sisters.
Her funeral services will be privately held at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Rev. Michael Wentz will officiate. Genevieve will be laid to rest in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
