Gary G. Schafer, Sr., 76, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on October 14, 1946 in Allentown, a son of the late Garfield L. and Eleanor (Bogert) Schafer. He married Virginia L. “Ginny” Delycure on November 28, 1968.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Ginny, he is survived by three sons, Gary G. Schafer, Jr., Thaddeus L. Schafer, and Christopher J. (Megan) Schafer; and five grandchildren, Emma, Isaiah, Jonah, Micah, and Sara Schafer.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc, Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time. A private memorial service will be held at a future date and time. Per Gary’s request, he gave the gift of life through organ donation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, 946 Ashton Dr., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
