Gary Lee Mozingo, Sr., 73, of Newburg, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sunday, December 28, 1947 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late William G. and Mildred M. Bailey Mozingo.
Gary was a United States Army Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division, and retired as 1st Sergeant from the National Guard in 2006. He retired in 2007 from the Shippensburg University working in Computer Operations.
He was a life member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 both in Shippensburg. Gary enjoyed collecting coins and loved and cherished his family.
Gary is survived by one daughter, Shelly M. Porter, Shippensburg; one son, Gary Lee (wife Michele) Mozingo, Jr., Flemington, NJ; four brothers, David Mozingo, Grantville, Paul Mozingo, Palmyra, Ronald Mozingo, Pleasant Hall, and Ralph “Butch” Mozingo, Newburg; two sisters, Delores Unger, Shippensburg, and Suzanne McCoy, Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Zachary Porter, Shenay Porter, Joseph Mozingo, Laryssa Mozingo Caleb and Elijah Mozingo; and two great grandchildren, Gage Porter, Alakai Knight.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria J. “Vickie” Mozingo on April 15, 2013; one son, Richie Lee Mozingo; three brothers; and four sisters.
A private graveside service with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor James O. Bolich officiating.
A viewing will be held Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
