Gary L. Miller

Gary L. Miller, 78, of Oakville, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the UPMC Carlisle Hospital.

He was born on September 15, 1946, a son of the late Henry William and Winifred Bernice Eyer Miller, Sr. He married Betty M. Corkle on April 15, 1994. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2008.

Gary was a graduate of the Big Spring High School and worked for the former Greif Company, Shippensburg. He was a member of the Shippensburg Fish & Game, lifetime member of the NRA, and attended the Chambersburg Alliance Church. 

Gary was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved anything science fiction; reading countless books and watching a number of TV shows and movies. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to hunt. Anyone who knew Gary, knew he was a selfless, giving person who enjoyed helping others. Above all else, Gary’s biggest pride and joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his two sons, Dean E. Miller and significant other, Heather Armstrong of Carlisle, and Curt L. Miller and wife Melisa of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Lacey Lex and husband Scott, Nathan Miller, Morgan Miller, Kendra Hoffmann and husband Layton, Colby Miller and wife Ally, and Kaylee Miller; and one great-grandson, Maverick Hoffmann.

In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by one brother, Henry William “Bill” Miller, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chambersburg Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Pastor Jeff McCracken will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
