Gary R. Bird, 68, of Shippensburg, passed away unexpectedly the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on Sunday, October 2, 1955 in Anaheim, CA, a son of the late Charles Myler and Ruth Velma Fields Bird.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of the Anaheim High School in California and worked as a laborer at Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a United States Marines Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Gary was a proud Republican and huge enthusiast of Donald Trump. He loved watching Fox News and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and former Anaheim Angels.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tamey J. Bird of Shippensburg; four children, Daniel Bird and his wife Tiffany, Michael Bird, Amber Perrera and her fiancé Joe McDermott, and Krista Bird and her fiancé Christopher Barr; 15 grandchildren, Bella Hill, Jaxon Barr, Hudson Barr, Alison Perrera, David Perrera, Jr., Wyatt Perrera, Cayden Barr, Parker McDermott, LeAnna Bird, Clayton Bird, Lylliawna Bird, Dominic Sollers, Gabriel Sollers, Rylyn Bird, and Brayden Bird; one great-grandchild, Alijah Bird; one brother, Wayne Bird and his wife Linda; lifelong best friend, Rick Reynoza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kent Bird.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Burial at Salem Cemetery with military honors will be private.
