Gail Newman

Gail B. “Jigs” Newman, 84, of Chambersburg, died on the morning of Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on December 3, 1927, in New Grenada, PA, the son of the late Ila Queen Benson. Gail was a 1948 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School.

On December 28, 1965, Gail married Ms. Arlene D. Drumheller at the Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2008.

Gail was employed and retired from the former SKF Co., Shippensburg. He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, Chambersburg and a member of the Chambersburg Club.

He is survived by his step-son, Joe Miller of Chambersburg; three nieces, Sarah (Neal) Lake of Chambersburg, Elizabeth (Walter) Howland of Shippensburg, and Janice (Patrick) Donley of Carlisle; two nephews, Walter (Kathy) Hawley of Reading and Henry (Cathy) Hawley of T.N.

In addition to his mother and spouse, Gail was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Hawley.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.
