G. David Commerer

G. David ‘Dave” Commerer, 75, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Orrstown Personal Care Home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Saturday, February 14, 1948 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late George Robert and Gladys Hall Commerer.

Dave retired after 35 years of service, from Penn Dot as a heavy equipment Diesel Mechanic. He was a Life Member of West End Fire & Rescue. Dave was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved and dedicated his life to being a firefighter.

He is survived by two sons, Rodney Scott (Melinda) Commerer, of Fayetteville, and Loren Kip (Kristina) Commerer, Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Dylan (Cass) Commerer, Ashley (Parker) Simpson, and Tyler Commerer; three step-grandchildren, Kayla Lynch, Kenzie Hall, and Tyler Hall; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Aubrey Commerer, Jasper Simpson, and Callie Lynch; and his former wife, Janet Rabuck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his wife, Charlotte B. “Char” Brinkerhoff Commerer; one sister, Linda (Commerer) Miller; one great-granddaughter, Harper Marie Commerer; and his loving dog, Buddy.

Funeral services and burial will be private. A viewing will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
