Frederick E. Seibert, 81, of Carlisle, died peacefully at home Thursday, October 21, 2010.
Born February 10, 1929 in Dry Run, Franklin County; he was a son of the late John Franklin and Helen Mae Price Seibert.
He spent many years as a self employed dairy farmer in the Shippensburg area and was employed by International Harvester, C & W Equipment, Ruffe Chevrolet, and Fluorescent Supply Company.
Fred was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Carlisle where he was a deacon, helped with the Meals on Wheels program and served on the Election Board in South Middleton Twp., Cumberland County. He was a 1947 graduate of Shippensburg High School.
He was known for his many home building projects, immaculate yard, including his much loved rose garden and most important spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Cressler Seibert whom he married October 6, 1951, one son, Thomas Seibert and his wife Diane of Carlisle, two daughters; Evelyn Weaver and her husband Graham of Gettysburg, and Dorothy Kinsey and her husband Brett of Grand Rapids, MI, four brothers; John “Pete”, Donald, and Paul Seibert all of Shippensburg, and Kenneth Seibert of Carlisle, four sisters; Louise Phenicie of Chambersburg, Pauline Hinkle of Shippensburg, Gladys Morehouse of Mt. Holly Springs, and Marilyn “Jane” Alleman of Gettysburg, five grandchildren; Matthew and Lindsay Lebo, Stephanie Brown, Heather Seibert, and Brittany Weibley, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by two brothers; James and Robert Seibert.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. Officiating will be The Rev. Jeffrey Gibelius and The Rev. Jennifer McKenna. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. A visitation will be held Monday morning one hour prior to the services in church.
