Fred Andrew Hoover, 60, of Newburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 19, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Monday, August 29, 1955 in Chambersburg, he was a son of George Andrew and Eleanor V. Edmonson Hoover, of Newburg.
Fred was a 1973 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a member of Mt. Rock Brethren in Christ Church. Fred was a lifelong farmer, with 20 years being a dairy farmer. He worked for the former Atlantic Breeders in Lancaster, and was presently working at Wenger Feeds in Shippensburg. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, enjoyed farming and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Debra Sue Lay Hoover, three daughters; Kimberly S. (husband Aron) Shoap, Karen E. (husband Chad) McNew, all of Newburg, and Devan N. Hoover, of Shippensburg, four grandchildren; Kourtney & Kelsey Shoap, and Landen & MaKenna McNew, two brothers; Dana (wife Susan) Hoover and Mark (wife Tammy) Hoover, one sister, Lavon (husband Robert) Boden, all of Newburg, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the Newburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Murr, Rev. Steve P. Salisbury and Pastor Bill Myers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Newville. A viewing will be held Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Newburg United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the church.
