Frank M. Perdas, 70, of Shippensburg passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, in the Hershey Medical Center. He was born September 16, 1945 in Johnstown, PA, to the late John A. and Mary A. Gembinski Perdas. He was admired and respected as an outstanding family man, teacher, coach, and one who proudly served in the U.S. Army.
Frank graduated from Ferndale High School in Johnstown. He then attended the University of Tennessee where he enjoyed playing football as a Tennessee Volunteer before serving in the U.S. Army. In 1971, he received his B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education from Penn State University, and M. Ed. degrees in Counseling and School Administration from Shippensburg University in 1976 and 1979. In 2003, Frank retired from the Chambersburg Area School District where he was a dedicated Health and Physical Education teacher for 31 years. He was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church and enjoyed Bible study and friendship with the members of the Progressive Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post #46.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jacqueline K. Cline Perdas, four children, Holli R. Perdas of Hagerstown, MD, Andrew M. Perdas and wife Carmen of Crestwood, KY, Jeremy P. Wolfe and Joshua S. Wolfe, both of Shippensburg, three grandchildren, Krysta N. Rockwell of Shippensburg, Benjamin M. and Brooke M. Perdas both of Crestwood, KY, one brother, Henry Perdas and wife Laura of Wheelersburg, OH, and sister, Marian Perdas and Larry Parvin of Hermiston, OR.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and John Perdas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016, at 11 am at the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg with Rev. James O. Bolich officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and at the Prince Street Church one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veteran’s Council will be held at the Spring Hill Cemetery.
