Frank Harrison Mackey, 81, a resident of the Shook Home, Chambersburg, formerly of Horse Valley, Path Valley, and Burnt Cabins, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from the home.
Born Tuesday, November 18, 1930 in Horse Valley, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Harrison and Jessie C. Newman Mackey.
His work included farming, sawmilling, and logging. Frank enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and walking in the mountains on Sundays with relatives. In his later years he attended auctions, sold items at yard sales and at his home in Burnt Cabins. At the Shook Home, he enjoyed attending church, going to activities, and playing Bingo, giving the items he won to others.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Hastings, Earl, and James Brent Mackey and three sisters, Grace Clapsaddle, Mary Comp, and Ethel Mackey.
He is survived by five sisters, Bertha Golden of Schenectady, NY, Esther Kissinger of Chambersburg, Fanny Cook and her husband Calvin of Carlisle, Naomi Hill of Orrstown, and Nellie Ziemba of Chambersburg, numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg with the Rev. Keith R. Bell officiating. Burial will be in Keefer’s Cemetery, Horse Valley. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
