Frank A. Cressler, 81, of Shippensburg, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at home.
Born January 28, 1933 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Frank S. and Anna Mary Brinkerhoff Cressler.
He was partners with his parents and brother in the former Cressler’s Fruit Market. Frank and his wife Mabel were owners of the former Cressler Trucking Company.
He was a 1950 graduate of the Valley Forge Military Academy and attended Junior College at the academy for two additional years.
Frank was a member of Cumberland Valley Lodge #315 F. & A.M., Valley Forest #145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, and the Cumberland Valley Hose Company #53. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel E. Mitchell Cressler, one son, Samuel F. Cressler and wife Christine, of Shippensburg, one daughter, Su Ellen Strawmyre and husband Konrad, of Shippensburg, one brother, William H. Cressler, of Shippensburg, one step sister, Cynthia Barnes, of Chambersburg, six grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Albert B. Cressler, who died September 9, 1978.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Robert Seibold will officiate. Burial with military honors, conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts, will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, with masonic services conducted by Cumberland Valley Lodge #315 F. & A.M. at 7:30.
