Francis E. Major, Jr., 87, of Shippensburg, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Elmcroft of Shippensburg.
Born April 15, 1925 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Francis E., Sr. and Anna Dolphin Major.
Francis was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church in Shippensburg. He was a retired printer for the A. Polmerantz Company in Philadelphia. Francis was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 both in Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia V. Kramer Major who died June 22, 2007. One brother and two sisters are also deceased.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Bubeck and her husband Louis of Loris, SC, and Diane D. Bubeck and her husband Philip of Washington, PA, three sisters, Patricia Phraner, Jean Thompson, and Anna Marie Enright all of Bensalem, five grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Father Dave A. Hillier. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Elmcroft of Shippensburg, 129 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
