Frances G. Swartz, 91, of Shippensburg, died on the evening of Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
She was born on October 2, 1923, in Allen, PA, a daughter of the late Lester and Mary Peiffer Gross, was a 1941 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, and a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II, enlisting on February 11, 1944 and honorably discharged on July 18, 1946.
Frances was retired as a Keypunch Operator at the Letterkenny Army Depot. She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Fort Morris A.A.R.P. #2525, and a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223.
She is survived by one sister, Pearl Myers of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Lester “Butch” Gross of Etters; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. ‘Had” Swartz; an infant daughter, Nadine Carol Swartz; one sister; and two brothers.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on April 26, 2015, at the Zion Cemetery, Newburg. Pastor Jim Rogers will officiate There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God at 121 East King Street Shippensburg, PA 17257.
