Frances M. Hershey
1940 ~ 2011
Frances “Fran” Marie Hershey, 70, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, January 6, 2011, surrounded by her family.
Born on February 7, 1940 in Bunker Hill, WV, a daughter of the late Carl and Mary Frances Baumgardner Faircloth. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 2008.
Frances married Mr. Ray F. Hershey on September 27, 1958 in Cearfoss, MD. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1997.
She retired from the Greif Company of Shippensburg where she worked as a sewing machine operator. She also worked part-time in the Shippensburg Area School District cafeteria and also the Chambersburg Hospital cafeteria.
She was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, and a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #2500, all of Shippensburg. She enjoyed shopping, playing games on her computer, traveling, spending time with her sisters, children, dear friends, and mostly spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved sitting in her chair, reading with her dog Hauns.
Frances leaves behind five daughters and one son; Tammy Funk of Fayetteville, Teresa Bender of Shippensburg, Roxienn and her husband Joe Rice of Evans, GA, Penny and her husband Michael Sheriff of Newville, Dawn Hoffman and her partner Keith Thompson of Shippensburg, and Fred Hershey of Shippensburg; 14 grandchildren, Craig Hill, Stephanie Singer, Tabitha Lake, Billy Lake, Joseph Rice, Jr., Samantha Rice, Daniel Rice, Chad Sheriff, Bridget Sheriff, Brandy Sheriff, Elizabeth Sheriff, Kaz Thompson, Lance Hershey, and Katrina Hershey; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters, Reva and her husband Bobbie Carroll of Horse Valley, Rosalee Laidig of Chambersburg, and Brenda and her husband Jim Little of Newville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and James Faircloth, and a brother in infancy, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Terry Burton will officiate. Interment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
